Do you cover cruciate surgeries?

Yes, Trupanion coverage includes cruciate surgeries and related treatments. However, if your pet had cruciate problems on the same leg or the opposite leg 18 months prior to your policy effective date, they will be considered pre-existing and will not be able to be covered.

A pre-existing condition is an illness or condition which first occurred or displayed signs prior to your pet's coverage effective date. It’s worth noting that pre-existing condition can also be an injury or recurrence of an injury that occurred prior to your pet's coverage effective date and not eligible for coverage.

What is cruciate disease in dogs and cats?

Cruciate ligaments are stabilizing tissues in the knee joints. They can tear and break down over time, which can result in painful conditions like arthritis and lameness. If not treated, cruciate disease can become progressively worse and become even more debilitating for pets.
